Author Attribution of Contributions

The authors of this e-book are responsible for the content of their contributions.  Each author contributed in different ways to the written work, as described below.

Chapter 1:  Research with Diverse Populations:  Who is vulnerable? was written by Rebecca Doughty and Esther Okang.

The responsibility of planning and writing the introduction chapter of the e-book was shared equally and enthusiastically by Esther Okang and Rebecca Doughty. All authors contributed equally to this work. Rebecca Doughty was responsible for defining vulnerability, vulnerability and sensitive research, exemplar from Rebecca and video recording. Esther Okang was responsible for the theoretical framework, exemplar, video recording and conclusion.  Roula Ghadban, Brittney Tacy, and Hilda Haynes-Lewis contributed a peer evaluation of an earlier version of this chapter.

Chapter 2:  Design Traditions and Methods for Research with Diverse Populations was written by Sarah Llanque and Hilda Haynes-Lewis.

The introduction and qualitative research exemplar were written by Hilda Haynes-Lewis. Sarah Llanque wrote the quantitative research exemplar, community-based participatory research exemplar, and the ethical issues and the IRB sections. Sarah Llanque and Hilda Haynes-Lewis jointly collaborated on the conclusion section. Esther Okang and Alison Pittman contributed a peer review of an earlier version of this chapter.

Chapter 3:  Successful Strategies to Recruit, Retain, and Respect Diverse Populations in Research was written by Roula Ghadban, Alison Pittman, and Brittney Tacy.

All authors contributed equally to this work. Roula Ghadban was responsible for the introduction and recruitment sections. Brittney Tacy authored the retention section. Alison Pittman was responsible for the respect section and the conclusion of the chapter. All three authors proofread the chapter.  Sarah Llanque and Rebecca Doughty contributed a peer review of an earlier version of this chapter.
